– We recommend using our 48V Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries, available in 66.5Ah, 133Ah, and 266Ah. These models are lightweight, compact, and deliver more usable energy and longer lifespan compared to AGM batteries. The right battery depends on your motor’s power and desired runtime — smaller motors or shorter trips typically require lower capacity, while larger systems benefit from higher capacity models. If you prefer AGM or another battery type, our team can assist you in selecting the best option for your setup. Optioneel: 66.5Ah (3.4kWh) – ideal for smaller motors or shorter operating times. 133Ah (6.8kWh) – suitable for medium-sized systems and typical daily use. 266Ah (13.6kWh) – perfect for high-power motors or extended operation periods.
– Our latest 48V Lithium (LiFePOâ‚„) batteries – available in 66.5Ah, 133Ah and 266Ah – are designed to deliver outstanding performance for marine propulsion. With energy capacities of 3.4kWh, 6.8kWh, and 13.6kWh, these models combine power, durability, and intelligent energy management in one compact system. Their lightweight construction and high-power density make them ideal for both private and commercial use, offering dependable full-day operations. The modular design allows for up to four batteries in parallel and two in series (2×2), giving you complete flexibility in system configuration – from small leisure boats to professional passenger transport.
– When comparing batteries, it’s important to look beyond the nominal capacity and focus on the usable energy – the amount you can safely draw without damaging the cells. Rim Drive’s Lithium batteries can be discharged up to 85% of their total capacity, while traditional AGM lead-acid batteries are limited to about 65% if you want to keep the long life of your battery. For example, 48V with 133Ah capacity is 48*133=6384Wh=6.4kWh. With the capacity showed as kWh, it becomes much easier to calculate for how long you can drive a boat on a certain power level. However, this capacity comes with a significant warning. The calculated capacity only shows the nominal capacity, which does not equal the actual usable capacity. This is certainly the case for lead-acid batteries. From the nominal capacity only around 65% is available for AGM or traction batteries if the life cycle of the battery needs to be best. When fully draining a battery can/will cause damage to the internals, which reduces the life expectancy. Thus, the actual capacity is 65%*6.4=0.65*6.4=4.1 kWh. This reduction is valid for lithium as well, only in the case of lithium-based batteries the actual capacity is around 85%. With the higher discharge capacity of lithium more power per weight is available. 85%*6.4=0.85*6.4=5.44kWh for a lithium battery.
